Plastic strapping:

Today strapping of palettes and piece goods with plastic strap belongs to the absolute industrial standard.

This method of load unit securing offers best economically efficiency combined with easiest use.

Anyhow, like every packaging method also strapping requires a suitable choice of the packaging material as well as packaging tool especially for the special application. Only the interaction of all involved components grants an efficient and optimum protection of the goods by achievement of the best possible tensioning effect.

To be transported or to be stored goods are put out in particular to three essential charges:

a) transport-conditioned influences because of vibrations, e.g. by rough lifting / putting down when loading, bad street conditions and the like

b) climatic influence because of temperature variations, humidity, strong solar radiation and the like

c) human influence, e.g. by not proper handling and storage of the goods

All these influence the preservation of the tensioning effect, the most important criterion for an optimum securing of the packaging good. A package is always optimal strapped, when the strap remains closely at the packaging good in spite of load.

There are two variations of plastic strap:

a) Polypropylene (PP) strap

PP strap has lower tearing strength resistance with big tensile capability. It is the cheapest way to strap light to moderately heavy piece goods, which are shipped within a narrow time frame. Due to its material qualities it is not weatherproof and resistant to weather and unsuitably for a longer storage of the package.

b) Polyethylen (PET) strap

PET strap is a real alternative to steel strap, because it shows a high firmness with low tensile and thereby suitable for moderately heavy to heavy packages. The strap is weatherproof and can be also used for the longer-term storage of the goods. Its good shock absorption makes it more insensitively for transport-conditioned influence and rough treatment. Its tensile capability also allows a furthermore closely remaining strapping, when the package characteristically shrinks some.
